What makes cetyl myristoleate so different from all the dozens of other remedies I've tried?
Unlike everything else, CM is not a pain reliever. It is not an anti-inflammatory. It is not a cortisone or other steroid. CM is an immune-o-modulator. There's never been anything like it before! Instead of treating the symptoms of pain and inflammation, CM acts directly against the cause of arthritis - erroneously programmed 'memory T-cells' of your immune system that cause the attacks against your joints. The bad programming is why, as time passes, arthritis only gets worse, never better. But once the program in corrected, the attacks on your joints are halted and the symptoms of pain and inflammation are remedied.
How does it work?
At present, the exact manner in which cetyl myristoleate works is unknown. Limited laboratory studies done with rats, combined with the many testimonials of patients who experienced remission of a diversity of health problems, combine to suggest that there is a very powerful positive effect on the immune system, as well as on function of the liver. Clinical studies suggest that the product enhances the part of the immune system known as immunoglobulins. There also seems to be an enhancement of the good prostaglandins, which are chemicals within the body that naturally reduce pain and swelling.
Although the specific pathways of action are yet unknown, anecdotal evidence, and preliminary clinical trials have repeatedly confirmed that it does, indeed, have a very positive effect on the health of the majority of those people who have taken it.
Does cetyl myristoleate stop arthritis pain and improve joint mobility, even in really severe cases?
Arthritis pain will disappear in almost every instance. In a few extreme cases, pain was reduced by only 70-90%, which was still a major benefit that it allowed the persons to function normally again. Unless the cartilage is completely worn away to the point that the bones have been fused together, the usual problem is not lack of mobility, but pain. If the joint can be moved even just slightly, joint mobility can usually be greatly improved. Even most persons previously confined to bed or to wheel chairs have responded and are now no longer dependent on others for care. A number of these cases received additional benefits from physical therapy or exercise programs.
Is Cetyl Myristoleate approved by the FDA?
This is a commonly asked question, and it requires a few sentences to answer. The FDA does not 'approve' natural substances. Cetyl myristoleate is neither approved nor disapproved by the FDA.
The FDA is mainly in the business of approving pharmaceutical drugs. The FDA, in fact, approves of numerous new drugs each year, which are known to have dangerous and even life-threatening side-effects. For example, the FDA approves of many kinds of arthritis pain medications which have been well-documented to suppress pain, while at the same time actually causing the arthritis to get worse faster. In recent years, the FDA has approved several drugs which are known to have severe side-effects, and have resulted in numerous patient deaths. By contrast, the FDA, under pressure from the medical/pharmaceutical establishment, was recently 'concerned' that the public has access to completely safe products, such as vitamin C, garlic, beta-carotene, and various herbs, enzymes, and other natural food substances.
Are there any side effects?
Studies on cetyl myristoleate began at the US National Institutes of Health more than twenty years ago. Recently, clinical application studies were conducted the San Diego clinic. NO harmful short- or long-term effects were ever observed in humans or in laboratory animals even at extremely high doses. Similar substances have been used in common foods including cheese and chocolate, and even in medications and cosmetics. Cetyl myristoleate is an essential oil. It is well-documented that the oil that is not useful to the body is naturally eliminated.
Is this a natural product? Where does it come from?
Cetyl myristoleate is a fatty acid/oil which occurs in nature. Although CM was originally extracted from mice, that method is no longer used. CM has been successfully synthesized in the laboratory through a series of very complex (and costly) chemical processes. One of the natural building blocks that can be used to synthesize the fatty acid component in CM is common butter from cow's milk. (No mouse or beaver extracts are used.) CM is derived from certain fatty tissues of natural US beef sources.
Is it safe to take while taking medications?
In a very real sense, taking cetyl myristoleate is the equivalent of taking a tiny amount of any other food quality oil into your body. In a broad manner of speaking, taking CM is no more likely to interact with a medication that eating a pat of butter on a baked potato. HOWEVER, you should ask your doctor for his or her opinion on this question. We do not presume to offer medical advice.
Why should caffeine and alcohol be avoided while taking Cetyl Myristoleate?
Laboratory studies have shown cetyl myristoleate tends to be stored in the liver. (Remember that it is non-toxic, and does not harm the liver.) Any chemical substances which have the potential of irritating the liver (including caffeine, alcohol, etc.,) may block some, or all, of the potential benefits. It has been noticed that, in clinical trials, people who are heavy consumers of alcohol and/or caffeine are the least likely to experience benefit from taking the product. So, for best results, avoid those substances while taking the product.
How long does a person need to take it?
Cetyl myristoleate is a non-prescription natural dietary supplement. As such, the individual user decides how much and how often to take the product. Most people take the equivalent of 180 capsules of product over the course of 30 days. Often that's all it takes. Others may take it a bit longer, and rarely, some may even need 60 to 90 days for complete relief.
Is it safe for children with arthritis to take?
Because the active ingredient is a natural, non-toxic fatty acid (oil), it is safe for children to take. There has been no adverse effects reported when used according to directions by either children or adults.
What is the shelf life? Do I need to refrigerate it?
The shelf life of the product is approximately 3 years. The active ingredient is completely stable at normal environmental temperatures and does not need to be refrigerated. Warm temperatures will not cause it to degenerate.
